Genesis CBD Pain Cream Review
The market for topical CBD-infused creams has exploded in recent times. Research has shown that cannabinoid receptors from the endocannabinoid system are situated in the skin. This means that cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) can have therapeutic effects when applied externally.
As the name of this product suggests, CBD-rich creams can help with pains. They are also great for providing relief from inflammation and relaxing muscles, particularly post-exercise. We’ll touch more on these benefits later in the article.
This CBD topical cream has been made with a full-spectrum CBD extract. The lab reports for both the 250 and 500mg products confirm the high CBD content of these products, and that the amount of psychoactive THC is below the legal 0.3% limit.
Full-spectrum CBD is made with all of the hemp extract, and therefore contain trace quantities of other cannabinoids and terpenes. There may be limited research on many of these compounds in their individual state, but studies show CBD is more effective when part of a full extract, compared to when taken isolated.
This CBD Genesis Pain Cream is also made with beneficial essential oils, xantham gum and an organic alcohol extract of Salix Alba bark, which is a natural exfoliant for the skin.
Reasons for using a CBD cream
In this section, we’ll cover some general reasons for using the CBD Genesis Pain Cream. This list is not exhaustive, but should give you some guidelines for use.
Chronic pain relief
Lots of CBD products are thought to help with chronic pain – these include edibles, tinctures and e-liquids. However, for targeted relief from pain, topical products stand out. As the CBD stays in one place, the analgesic effects are all concentrated on the area where the CBD was applied. If you are managing lower back pain, for instance, the benefits will all be felt in this region.
How does CBD relieve pain? Scientists are not 100 percent sure on the mechanisms, just that it can have a positive effect. It is perhaps thanks to CBD inhibiting breakdown of the endocannabinoid anandamide (AEA). AEA is a CB1 receptor agonist, a cannabinoid receptor in the ECS that regulates pain sensitivity. Furthermore, CBD is a vanilloid receptor agonist – this receptor is not a part of the ECS, but it does affect how the body feels pain.
CBD is an excellent anti-inflammatory, so it’s possible to use CBD for arthritis pain. The two types of arthritis are rheumatoid and osteoarthritis.
Rheumatoid is an autoimmune disease – CBD may help here by restoring regulation to the ECS, and with it the immune system. Osteoarthritis is a result of wear and tear, and CBD can alleviate joint pain, and may work to repair damaged joint cartilage.
The reductive effect of CBD on inflammation means creams could also be used to treat swelling and bruising.
The microscopic muscle tears which can occur after an intense workout are not, contrary to opinion, bad, but they can cause discomfort and soreness. Any of us who exercise are familiar with this pain, but it is manageable with a CBD cream for pain. Lather up, and you’ll help to alleviate the notorious aches which set in after working out.
For skin conditions
While you should exercise caution with using this pain cream on sensitive skin, it has the potential for helping with less volatile skin conditions. Applying CBD to the skin minimizes the risk of fungal, microbial or bacterial infections, as the cannabinoid helps stop the spread of all three.
Moreover, as a natural anti-inflammatory, CBD may reduce symptoms of psoriasis, acne and eczema. Cannabinoid receptors (in this case, CB2) are found in the skin, which is why CBD topicals can be used to tackle skin-based inflammation.
Pain Cream Range
Creams and topicals are the only CBD-infused products that have a localized effect. When you apply it to the skin, the cannabinoids are kept in the skin, and are not transported around the body in the blood. Therefore, these do not have a direct effect on your mood. However, you may find that your mood improves anyway if the cream helps to relieve your pain. We have two CBD creams for pain, sold in 2oz pots with 250 or 500mg of CBD.
The 250mg cream is good if your symptoms are not too severe. The CBD has a soothing effect on the skin, which is great for relaxing the muscles. It will also help with pain, although to get the benefits make sure you apply at regular intervals.
The 500mg cream is twice as strong, and is intended for people in search of more potent relief. This CBD pain salve will be more effective at relieving intense, chronic pain, as there is more CBD present to interact with the various receptors – both inside and outside of the ECS – in the skin.
A word of advice
As stated on the packaging of this CBD Genesis product, it should be kept away from the eyes. Ensure that you are only using this product topically, and show due care if applying to sensitive skin. It’s recommended to only use a small quantity of the cream each time, but to apply every four to six hours if necessary.
Our very own CBD Genesis Pain Cream has all the ingredients required to provide meaningful, cannabinoid-based relief for the skin, helping to improve skin quality and reduce inflammation and pain.
